My best memory...

The best memories were with amazing teachers. Suzanne, Neil who was married to Sarah i think who was also a teacher. Basit who I still see time to time. Bella, Claire, Emma and even caretaker Carl. Along with many more. The TA’s who are still there now, Shipli, Salama, Margaret, Eileen one and two lol. Of course many more. They really made the whole experience fun. I used to be so excited to play marbles and hopscotch in the playground. Look at the crazy tarantulas Peter had. Learning how to use the computer. The books were a dream. The handeriting lessons and decorating our own covers and putting them in our trays. Going through to each class on my birthday with a friend sharing out chocolates while earing most of them. The ‘haunted’ toilets that I kept challenging myself to go into. The fun P.E sessions outdoors. The epping forest trips coming back covered in mud from head to toe. Beach trips each year where in one I almost drowned lol. Sitting on the benches in assembly feeling like royalty. Taking registers to the office was a tough responsibility haha.

The memory that sits the most with me is the singing sessions with John Meehan the head of school. Him and his guitar and the projector. Was a vibe. I have searched everywhere for him and Suzanne to thank them in the present for doing the best they can for us. I hope they are doing well!

I go to do some pick ups here and there now and wish I can have a tour of the inside as I know it’s changed so much. If any of the teachers end up reading this. Just know we appreciated you and know the struggles you must have faced to make the school perfect. I do wonder where the leavers of my year have gone and if they are doing well in life too.

And now...

Im 33 and work with kids too and now know how we must have tortured the teachers back then haba. Im also the regular pick up person for my three nieces and nephews who now attend and it’s nice for teachers to recognise us. Especially via my older sister who worked in the school earlier on. Waves of nostalgia each time.

One of my favourite memories was when I could play with the dolls, in the home corner of the infant class. I was a quiet child and also really enjoyed, sitting at a table drawing pictures too.

And now...

I work in a school in Bedford, as a Parent Learning Mentor. I love my job as it enables me to engage with so many wonderful mummies and daddies.

My best memory...

I learned so much at this schools. I miss my friends, lost contact with them years ago but still have fond memories of my time at Mayflower. I still remember my nursery teachers, Mrs Golden and Mrs Fletcher. I had great teachers like Ms Glen Frankin, Ms Helen Koumi, Mr Lane, Mrs Box, Mrs Humphries and our headteacher Ms Parks. I wonder if the red car is still in the nursery? We used to be at our best behaviour so that we could drive the car, lol.
