About Mayflower
Welcome to our website.
Mayflower is a Local Authority, inclusive, community school in the heart of Poplar. When children join Mayflower they ‘Set Sail for Success’ on their learning journey through our school. Our school is named after The Mayflower Ship, famous for taking early pioneers to America.
That pioneering spirit is an inspiration for us at Mayflower School as we strive for excellence in learning. We want all our pupils to be successful and we are constantly searching for new and innovative ways to make learning even more exciting, so that everyone at Mayflower can enjoy the sense of adventure learning brings and discovers how learning changes lives.
We want everyone at Mayflower to feel welcomed, included and proud to be part of our school. We were awarded outstanding at our last two Ofsted inspections, which acknowledges our focus to provide our pupils with an excellent education.

We know how important it is to work in partnership with parents. Working together we can ensure your child has excellent learning behaviour and manners. We have a reputation for being a very friendly school. By joining us you will also be part of creating that friendly atmosphere at our school.
Parents and carers can arrange to meet with Teachers and Teaching Assistants at any time throughout the year. We have more formal meetings for parents at different points during the school year.
We have 414 pupils on roll. Our school is well staffed with talented and committed staff. Each class has a full-time Teaching Assistant.
Our popular breakfast club runs from 8.00– 8.40am and offers a wide range of healthy breakfasts, both hot and cold, at no cost to parents. We find this really helps pupils to have a calm start to the day and aids concentration and learning.
