The children are still having lots of fun in the early years playground, especially with the big wooden blocks. They have enjoyed creating paths and thinking of new materials that they can use to add to the path. They have shown good creativity and independence when going to get the materials, such as crates and different sized pieces of wood. The Early Years Team are so grateful for the investment in the playground, for example, the artificial grass with the safety surface underneath. This has helped children to climb over the blocks (yes, sometimes on space hoppers!!) and use the stompers (stilts) safely without worrying about falling on to a hard surface. When travelling/climbing on the blocks the children are learning how to balance, negotiate getting past other children (using language skills) and using mathematical/shape and space skills. Well done, children!
